About
Having grown up in the relatively small town of Griffithstown in South Wales (population being roughly ~5,500) I'd say my childhood was fairly typical for the area. Early career exploits included paper rounds, a bit of manual labour and eventually McDonalds. A successful business owner friend of mine once told me that EVERYONE should work a part of their life in McDonalds — apparently dealing with drunks at 11pm teaches you something about resilience…
For no other reason than "moving out" I decided I'd try and go to university. School never really interested me, but I did enjoy learning in and of itself and eventually went to study Computer Science at Glamorgan University.
From there I had a brief career in Gwent Police as a Project Manager followed by a few short spells in several different NHS organisations.
After various stints working abroad in France, Nepal, New Zealand and the USA I decided to go back to university to study for a PGCE. This was followed by a 4/5 year career in teaching, mostly in reception classes, but the occasional bit of supply work across all primary education.
Which leads me to now… several careers later and I've spent the last few years working for the NHS as a Configuration Analyst working on the EPR system — Epic.
